As the country continues to reopen and return to a more normal way of life millions of Americans are starting to travel again for both work and pleasure. As hotels continue to see an increased number visitors and rental cars are in higher demand than ever, it is critical that companies are taking the proper precautions to ensure the safety of their customers.
AAA Inspected Clean designation inspections are now part of the regular Diamond Program hotel inspections. Inspectors will conduct on-site ATP surface testing to several high touch point areas. The testing will be done in several guest rooms and bathroom locations. The eight surfaces they will conduct the ATP testing on can include guest room door handles, light switches, thermostat controls, guest room desk or writing surfaces, television remotes, refrigerator handles, faucet and toilet handles, hair dryers and vanity surfaces.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on travelers’ expectations for cleanliness. That’s more important than ever as more people get the COVID-19 vaccine and start traveling once again,” said Paula Twidale, Senior Vice President, AAA Travel. “All AAA Diamond designated hotels must meet our established standards of cleanliness and physical condition. With the new addition of surface cleanliness testing, these properties will now also be recognized as Inspected Clean.”

How TRC Can Help Ensure Your Hotel Earns the AAA Inspected Clean Designation
With the added challenges of ensuring your facilities are safe and clean during the COVID-19 pandemic it is important that you properly prepare to ensure a successful inspection. The TRC team is here to help your hotel prepare for inspection, design a cleaning protocol and do pre-inspection ATP testing to ensure your facility passes inspection, earning the AAA Inspected Clean designation.
Defining the standard of care to safely reopen facilities is much more complex than cleaning spaces and keeping them clean. TRC understands the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as an aerosol and a surface microbial contaminant, and we develop priorities around the preparation for, detection of and testing for the virus in support of critical safety and operational flexibility planning. We have been on the front lines since the beginning of the pandemic helping our hotel, industrial, utility, K-12 schools, colleges and universities, public transportation and government agency clients ensure the safe reopening of their facilities.
