In continuing to expand our presence in a key British market, TRC is opening our second UK office in Manchester, England. Our London office opened in 2012 and the addition of the Manchester location further increases our presence in the UK, ensuring local support to clients in this region.
Manchester is rapidly transitioning from its former industrial roots into a thriving, international city. The city is experiencing a construction boom with construction output running at 10 times the national average, putting Manchester in the spotlight as one of the busiest regions in Europe.
Much of this growth can be attributed to increases in the city’s population over the past 10 years, which is driving development in the city. However, additional investment through the Northern Powerhouse initiatives and transport infrastructure (Metrolink, Northern Powerhouse Rail, HS2 and Transpennine Rail) creates an opportunity to connect communities and opens up new development opportunities across the region that were not previously viable.
TRC is honoured to be part of Manchester’s story. In fact, we have been working within Manchester and the northwest region for over the past five years building a track record of technical excellence, commercially focussed solutions and responsiveness to meet the most demanding project timescales.
We help our developer clients unlock brownfield assets and repurpose land into places to live and work. In the past five years our geo-environmental, geotechnical, acoustics and air quality teams have supported our clients in developing over 1 million square feet of industrial space, providing vital commercial and warehousing stock for the region. Our experience in brownfield regeneration has facilitated the release of former industrial land into residential developments and our expertise in ground conditions has overcome the most challenging in geotechnical and mine related problems.
Beyond the developer sector, TRC continues to support our corporate clients throughout the project lifecycle across multiple industries, including food and beverage, aerospace, energy and chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Our Transaction Advisory Services team actively support merger and acquisitions, whilst operations are supported by the environmental and remediation team to address legacy issues, and our permitting and compliance capabilities ensure our clients’ operations comply with today’s standards, but also invest in future proofing and working towards corporate sustainability goals.
Manchester is attracting business investment and top talent, but also becoming an increasingly popular place for families to live and work. Our new Manchester home is located in the heart of the city within walking distance to many of our clients and offers us great connectivity to the wider northwest region. The office will initially focus on our core disciplines of geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigation, remediation, air quality and acoustics.
