Challenge
In 2023, an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) manager for a multi-national e-commerce company contacted TRC inquiring about an ergonomic evaluation for their warehouse location in Las Vegas, Nevada. Warehouse employees were required to perform product inspections and packaging, presenting ergonomics hazards associated with repetitive motions. Prior to working with TRC, the EHS manager had already hired several other ergonomic consultants and was frustrated with their performance and final product.
Solution
TRC provided an experienced certified ergonomics assessment specialist (CEAS) to evaluate ergonomic risk at the warehouse. Services included:
- Meeting and interviewing employees and safety group representatives
- Observing and evaluating tasks and procedures with photo and video to capture different equipment/tasks in operation
- Identifying and recommending applicable ergonomic controls/improvements
- Providing a formal, detailed report with ergonomic risk ratings applied to evaluated tasks along with a prioritization ranking system for improvements and controls
Results
Following the final report, the client was thoroughly impressed with TRC’s customer service, attention to detail and level of expertise. Since the initial project, the client has onboarded TRC as a vendor to provide ergonomic and health and safety support for all the company’s global sites. Our work will include:
Ergonomics Services
- Ergonomic onsite evaluations for warehouse operations in North America and Europe
- Support for employee requested ergonomic assistance on an as-needed basis through a digital request form
Development of EHS Training
TRC developed nine online computer-based training courses customized for the client’s operations.
