Project Overview

The $2.1 Billion Mid-Coast Transit project extends the Blue Line Trolley service from Santa Fe Depot in Downtown San Diego to the University City community, serving major activity centers such as Old Town, Mission Bay, UC San Diego, and Westfield UTC. The extension provides significant connectivity within the region serving nine new stations, including the terminus station at the Westfield UTC Transit Center.

TRC (formerly VC&A) provided civil and structural quality assurance/inspection services on Segments 1 and 2 of the Mid Coast project which included drainage, new trackwork, bridges, retaining walls and other support structures, stations, landscape, and electrical systems along the 11-mile corridor. The colossal project was constructed in four segments: Morena, Balboa-Gilman, I-5, and UCSD-UTC), delivered on time and on budget.
