Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), is a roughly $1.2 trillion bill signed into law on November 15, 2021. The bill represents an estimated $550 billion in new spending above baseline levels. According to the White House the IIJA is meant to “build America’s roads, bridges and rails, expand access to clean drinking water, ensure every American has access to high-speed internet, tackle the climate crisis, advance environmental justice, and invest in communities that have too often been left behind.”

Bridge Investment
With no bridges with a “Good” condition rating in the US, bridge investment programs are a priority. An influx of new bridge projects and more available funding means smaller bridges will also be eligible for IIJA funding.

Broadband and Telco Infrastructure
More than 30 million Americans live in areas where broadband infrastructure is unacceptable to support the needs of the community, and the IIJA-funded projects and grants target to close that gap.

This area includes technology, demonstration projects, modernizations efforts and various grants for energy efficiency projects.
