Make Modern Geospatial an Enterprise Advantage

Modern geospatial services built on world-class expertise.

Whether part of a large-scale digital transformation initiative or transitioning from departmental to enterprise GIS, more utilities are turning to the Esri ArcGIS Utility Network (UN).

That’s because the business of utilities requires an accurate digital representation of the physical world to meet operational goals, regulatory requirements, and business objectives. The UN meets this need through its enterprise geospatial capabilities, including its modern platform, data connectivity model, and functionality.

TRC enables utilities to deploy the UN effectively for improved service delivery, asset integrity, and customer support. With combined geospatial, IT and industry knowledge, TRC maintains the technical expertise and proven best practices to ensure a high-performing, enterprise-wide solution for customer success.

With TRC’s ArcGIS UN deployment services, customers gain:

  • Connectivity to enterprise systems and applications
  • Timely, accurate, and complete data
  • Advanced linear asset and network analysis
  • Spatially accurate data visualization
  • Robust modeling, editing, and tracing features

What’s Next? Preparing for Utility Network Migration

May 12, 2021

In preparing for Utility Network Migration, taking an intermediate approach will allow you to resolve some key points. Utility Network Migration will run smoother if you build a “sandbox environment” and begin to 1) prioritize features 2) explore licensing options and 3) practice moving data.

When implementing the Esri Utility Network with TRC, you gain benefits including:

  • Esri Network Management Specialty
  • Vast experience delivering the Esri Utility Network to clients
  • A successful track record delivering self-sustaining projects
  • Staff dedicated to transparency, communication and collaboration
  • Deep relationships with Esri and other tech providers
  • Extensive training and change management strategies

You only need a few things to bring your new model to life:

  • An existing dataset: The Utility Network uses your existing data to create its topology. If you already have data from past projects, TRC can easily automate the conversion of it into your new system. If you don’t have a current data set, we will work with you to create a plan for gathering network model and asset information, generating spatial data sets, and loading into the Utility Network. Our team will stay with you throughout the design, data conversion and delivery until we complete the full implementation.
  • UN compliant infrastructure and data platform: The Utility Network offers you the right software and data model. Now, you have to make sure you have the right infrastructure and hosting platforms. The Utility Network implements modern computing patterns and protocols. This requires advanced systems and infrastructure. When you choose TRC, you also get the experts in deploying Utility Network capable platforms, integrations and associated applications. We specialize in designing both on premise and cloud-hosted utility network deployments.

Utility Network data can be edited by your users in ArcGIS Pro as well as compliant web interfaces. Most organizations achieve data maintenance by deploying a scalable fleet of ArcGIS Pro instances for data editors to access. Constraint and validation attribute rules are typically configured to provide users with runtime data validations and quality checks. Network model and connectivity rule updates are typically applied via scheduled maintenance windows that allow network topology to be disabled and re-enabled so that existing data can be validated with the updated rule base.
